If you're familiar at all with this project (highly likely if you are here), then you already know the timeline. Even with just the publicly available information, it makes sense, but it colors everything about the released game.

It's... fine? It has some genuinely funny parts, the voice acting grew on me pretty quickly.

I understood all the puzzles put in front of me, and never got stumped.

But the mini-games/arcade sequences, unlike their Space Questian predecessors, I could do with being a lot shorter.

I think what gets me about them is that everything is a little wonkier being in a 3D engine, and some of the charm in visuals (animations, backgrounds, and just... the whole package) is lacking.

It never quite clicks, and the extra dimension can mean things like "Oops, I went too far trying to get control of this, and now I have so much more space to traverse".

The writing and design sense of the Two Guys has not dulled, but losing that layer of Sierra polish and with the growing pains of the dimensional transition makes me notice the rough edges more.

An increase in fidelity increases the expectation of all aspects of a thing.

I still hold out hopes that the continued development will soften some of the edges.

GOOD GAG: Walking into the automatic toilets and smacking your face into the privacy shield, leaving an imprint. Simple slapstick. Makes me laugh every time. THOOMP.
