Astro Chicken

Astro Chicken, pixel'd in the AGI style

Space Quest has a weird and not very cohesive universe. This, while not necessarily a conscious cohice, allows for some stuff just for fun.

In Space Quest III, we learn that the Two Guys From Andromeda (the out-of-game pseudonyms for Mark Crowe & Scott Murphy) are in-universe characters who have been abducted by an evil software company and forced to make terrible games.

Astro Chicken is one of those (and the only one we ever see from them).

It's a fun reskin of Lunar Lander that Roger gets to play in the space-fast-food-joint Monolith Burger.

Sierra released it as a standalone download at some point, with no additional changes.

WHERE TO FIND IT: The easiest way to find and play the standalone version is to use ScummVM, and the download is available on their demos page.

PERSONAL TRIVIA: As part of the earlier versions of Wilco Web (back in the 20th century), I also maintained Astro Chicken Web. And I wrote the Astro Chicken FAQ, a parody of the Space Quest FAQ.
