Possible SQ Live Movie
For some time now, fellow Wilcoworshipper and aspiring filmmaker Mike "WaffleKing" Schock has been developing an idea to create a Space Quest based screenplay to be made into an original motion picture, entitled "Roger Wilco: Intergalactic Janitor." The screenplay is hoped to be an original work, borrowing some of the best aspects from all 6 parts of the series. The work is planned to be a science fiction spoof, which the closest thing to which it can be descibed as is "Spaceballs-ish" in style, spoofing not only the entire sci-fi genre, but popular culture in itself. Mike has contacted several people on this, including Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy with offers to co-write, but has reached limited progress. He now asks for all SQ fans who read this to help by showing their support for this project, in hopes that it will be accomplished.
Currently, he has a plot, characters, a title, and plenty of free time on his hands.
All that he's asking for currently is support.
In his own words, Mike tells his reasons for creating this idea:
"I think I should take a little room at the bottom to tell you the inspiration behind this. Space Quest has never been just a game. It has always been a hilarious sci-fi spoof trapped in video game form. I don't think a film like this has ever been made and it has in my opinion really great potential. I'm not doing this just to appeal to the handful of die-hard fans but to every single person who has never heard of the series. I think we can make Roger Wilco a household name."
NOTE: Due to various reasons (legal and personal), he will not accept or give ideas, unless an he asks specifically for an
opinion.
